Villa Necchi Campiglio Review

In 1932, architect Piero Portaluppi designed this sprawling estate in an Art Deco style, with inspiration coming from the decadent cruise ships of the 1920s. Once owned by the Necchi Campiglio industrial family, the tasteful and elegant home—which sits on one of Milan's most exclusive streets, Via Mozart—is a reminder of the refined, modern culture of the nouveau riche who accrued financial power in Milan during that era. I Am Love, directed by Luca Guadagnino, was mostly set in Villa Necchi, where actors like Tilda Swinton and Marisa Berenson were allowed to sit on the plush velvet furniture and mill about freely among the impressive artwork and sculptures. The villa was reopened to the public in 2008 after an extensive restoration. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter on the estate grounds. There is also a restaurant/caffe' on the grounds that is open for lunch.
