The fashion and publishing crowd, as well as international bankers and businessmen, favor this Tuscan/Ligurian restaurant. The emphasis is on fish; even the warm slice of pizza served while you study the menu has seafood in it. The specialty, gnocchi Da Giacomo, has a savory seafood-and-tomato sauce. Service is friendly and efficient; the wine list broad; and the dessert cart, with tarte tatin and Sicilian cassata (a concoction of sponge cake, ricotta, and candied fruit), rich and varied. With its tile floor and bank of fresh seafood, it has a refined neighborhood bistro style. Don't even think of trying for same-day reservations during fashion or furniture weeks.

There are many more famous - and much more expensive - but this is low key and very good. Seafood, welcoming amuse bouche of seafood pizza, and incredible dessert trolley. Well worth a cab ride!
