Il Gatto Nero

Il Gatto Nero Review

This restaurant in the hills above Cernobbio has a splendid view of the lake. Specialties include filetto con aceto balsamico (filet mignon with balsamic vinegar), pappardelle al ragù di selvaggini (pasta with wild game sauce), and lake fish. Save room for the warm chocolate torte with its delicious liquid chocolate center. Reservations are encouraged as this is a regular haunt of Italian soccer stars as well as the jet set.

Everything about Fodor's review is correct ... it is a wonderful place with exquisite food and a charming atmosphere. But beware a bit. My husband ordered the more expensive pasta with perch ... they tried to pass off the pasta with shrimp instead. They then tried to add on a 10 euro charge for splitting an appetizer. And we were treated badly after confronting our waiter with both problems. It is definitely worth going to Il Gatto Nero for dinner, but keep an eye on your food ... and your bill.
