Il Sole di Ranco Review

The same family has run this elegant lakeside inn, perched high on the banks of the lake opposite and below Stresa, for more than 150 years. The latest addition is a stunning pool with views of the lake. The chefs, Davide Brovelli and his father, Carlo, do the family proud with their exceptional restaurant ($$-$$$). Lake trout and perch find their way onto the menu, as do artichoke dishes in spring and eggplant in summer. Guest rooms and suites are in two late-19th-century villas surrounded by a garden and overlooking the lake. Restaurant reservations are essential.
