Piazza del Comune
Piazza del Comune Review
The Duomo, tower, baptistery, and Palazzo Communale (city hall) surround this distinctive and harmonious square: the combination of old brick, rose- and cream-color marble, terra-cotta, and old copper roofs brings Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance together with unusual success. Palazzo Communale houses Cremona's collection of stringed treasures: a viola and five violins, including the golden-orange "Il Cremonese 1715" of Stradivarius and one made by Andrea Amati for Charles IX of France in 1566.
