By Boat & Ferry in Genoa and the Italian Riviera

By Boat & Ferry

Within Liguria, boat or ferry travel can be the most pleasant -- and sometimes only -- way to get from place to place. A busy network of local ferry lines, such as Servizio Marittimo del Tigullio and Alimar, connects many of the resorts. Golfo Paradiso lines run between Camogli, San Fruttuoso (on the Portofino promontory), and Recco, and in summer from the port of Genoa and Nervi to Portofino, Cinque Terre, and Portovenere, stopping in Recco and Camogli. Navigazione Golfo dei Poeti runs regular ferry services between Lerici, Portovenere, the Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita, and Genoa.
