Genoa, Italy's largest port, can be reached by sea from the United States as well as from other Italian and European ports, including Sardinia and Sicily. Ships berth in the heart of Genoa; ferries to various ports around the Mediterranean are operated by Tirrenia Navigazione, whose most popular destination is Sardinia (a 13-hour trip). Grimaldi Lines sends overnight ferries to Barcelona (an 18-hour trip) and Palermo, Sicily (a 20-hour trip). Corsica Ferries runs car ferries from Savona to Bastia and Ile-Rousse in Corsica.
