Florence Restaurants

da Sergio Review

In 2015, this little trattoria will celebrate its centenary. There's a reason why it's been in the capable hands of the Gozzi family this long: the food's terrific, 100% Tuscan, eminently affordable, and its location could not be more central. It's just across the street from the basilica of San Lorenzo, and a perfect place to restore oneself after imbibing the beauties of Michelangelo and Brunelleschi. The short menu, which changes every day, strictly adheres to Tuscan food. There are no surprises except for the fact that everything they do they do extremely well. Try their succulent lombatina alla griglia (a grilled veal T-bone), or any of their tried-and-true pastas. In true Florentine fashion, there's only one dessert on offer: biscotti con vin santo (twice-baked biscuits dipped in sweet wine).
