Though this hotel was not designed by Brunelleschi, Florence's architectural genius, it might as well have been. The Loggiato is tucked away on one of the city's loveliest squares; a mirror image of the architect's famous Spedale degli Innocenti is across the way. Occupying a 16th-century former convent, the building was once an inn for traveling priests. Vaulted ceilings, tasteful furnishings (some antique), canopy beds, and rich fabrics make this spare Renaissance building with modern comforts a find.
