Casa Buonarroti

Fodor's Review:

If you are really enjoying walking in the footsteps of the great genius, you may want to complete the picture by visiting the Buonarroti family home, even though Michelangelo never actually lived there. It was given to his nephew, and it was the nephew's son, also called Michelangelo, who turned it into a gallery dedicated to his great-uncle. The artist's descendents filled it with art treasures, some by Michelangelo himself—a marble bas-relief; the Madonna of the Steps, carved when Michelangelo was only a teenager; and his wooden model for the facade of San Lorenzo—and some by other artists that pay homage to him.
