Fodor's Review

It opens at 11 am, and closes at midnight: this is a rarity in Florentine dining. They do a little bit of everything here, including fine pastas (don't miss the ignudi), salads, and pizze. The burgers shine here, however. And all of this can be enjoyed with a splendid view of Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

Where to start. The service was so terrible, it was enraging. The food was mediocre. It took 30 minutes to even be acknowledged after sitting down. I asked repeatedly for a list of wines by the bottle and finally gave up and ordered two glasses of wines from the wine by the glass list. And they call themselves a wine bar. It took another 30 minutes to get water and the wine. They don't speak English and clearly dislike tourists. The two tables

of Italians who sat after we had arrived were served and finished long before our dinner came and one of those tables was a table of 10 people. Meanwhile, while waiting for service, one of the servers spent his time chatting up the locals while ignoring us and another table of tourists. They did not clear our dishes despite walking by over 10 times and looking at the plates needing to be cleared. They cleared the local clients tables immediately. I asked for another glass of wine which never came but they certainly charged me for it! They even added a service fee. This is the first time I have experienced a service fee for a table of two anywhere. I would have left no tip for the first time in my life if I had been given the opportunity to do so. The location on the square is nice but there are other options right next door that were much busier than this place. Clearly other people got the memo to avoid this place. This place was as or more expensive than the best restaurants we visited and the food was subpar and the service was non-existent. Fodor's needs to remove this restaurant from the guidebook. It tarnishes their reputation as a trusted travel advisor.
