On arrival at the port, pick up the excellent map of the island at the tourist office (EUR 1). You may have to wait in line for the funicular railway (EUR 2.60 round-trip) to Capri Town, perched some 450 feet above the harbor. This might be the time to splurge on an open-top taxi—it could save you an hour in line for the funicular. From the upper station, walk out into Piazza Umberto I, much better known as the Piazzetta, the island's social hub.
