Ristorante il Ritrovo

Fodor's Review:

Stretching alongside the tiny town square of Montepertuso, 1,500 feet up the mountainside from Positano, the Ritrovo has long been noted for its cucina. Take a table in the outside part of the restaurant (heated during the winter months) and admire the dizzying view down over the coast while seated in a wood-panel room that almost has the feeling of a ship's cabin. A mixture of sea and mountain food is on the menu -- try the scialatielli ai frutti di mare heaped up with all manner of things from the sea, accompanied by some excellent grilled vegetables or followed by the scamorza cheese baked in lemon leaves. Leave space for the hazelnut semifreddi mousses and a homemade liqueur (with carob or even chamomile). Ask for advice on the excellent wine list from Teresa or Salvatore (if he's not too busy in the kitchen).
