Giardini di Augusto

  • Address: Via Matteotti beyond monastery of San Giacomo, Capri

Fodor's Review:

From the terraces of Giardini di Augusto (Gardens of Augustus), a beautifully planted public garden with excellent views, you can see the village of Marina Piccola below—restaurants, cabanas, and swimming platforms huddle among the shoals—and admire the steep and winding Via Krupp, actually a staircase cut into the rock. Friedrich Krupp, the German arms manufacturer, loved Capri and became one of the island's most generous benefactors. The staircase has been closed for years, but you can reach the beach by taking a bus from the Via Roma terminus down to Marina Piccola.

  • Open: Daily dawn-dusk
