Hotel Punta Tragara

Fodor's Review:

Soigné, adorable, and drop-dead gorgeous, clinging to the Punta Tragara lookout point, this has a hold-your-breath perch directly over the famed rocks of I Faraglioni. Originally a villa enjoyed by Churchill and Eisenhower, its exterior was renovated by Le Corbusier in traditional Capri style, then opened as a hotel in the 1970s by Countess Manfredi. Baronial fireplaces, gilded antiques, and travertine marble set the style in the main salons, while guest rooms -- no two are alike -- are sumptuously cozy-casual. The dreamy garden area is the showstopper here and it comes studded with two saltwater pools. One is adorned with exotic trees and cacti, and bordered with flagpoles flying festive yachting colors. The other is a jet-powered, aquamarine jewel set a foot away from La Bussola, an idyllic, arbor-covered restaurant that just might be the prettiest spot on the island, if not Campania. To top it off, the entire staff seems to have been sent to the finest finishing schools. If you really want to taste the good life, stay here.
