Once the refuge (with literary pretensions) where Jacqueline Kennedy famously sought refuge when hounded by paparazzi, this is still a favorite spot to channel Capri's Sunset Boulevard-y ghosts. With greater crowds packing Capri, the hotel does suffer a bit from its location -- just around the corner from the Piazzetta and right in the thick of crowds, cafés, and discos. That noted, the lovely atmosphere inside the public salons is quintessential Caprese, with lemon-yellow sofas, majolica-lined stairs, and antique-y accents. It used to be a bargain option but has grown more pricey over the years. Too bad the out-of-commission elevator (at times), seen-better-days beds, and smallish guest rooms (some of which have pleasant terraces and balconies) haven't kept pace.
