Augustine Abbey

Augustine Abbey Review

Cong is surrounded by many stone circles and burial mounds, but its most notable ruins are those of the Augustine Abbey, dating from the early 13th century and still exhibiting some finely carved details. It can be seen overlooking a river near fabulous Ashford Castle, now a hotel.

You can spend an hour or a day. The ruins and grounds were quite stunning on the beautiful "blue sky" day that we visited.

Right next to the "Quiet Man" house,it's easy to do and well worth it.
