Spanish Arch

  • Address: The Long Walk, Spanish Arch, Galway City, Co. Galway

Fodor's Review:

Built in 1584 to protect the quays where Spanish ships unloaded cargoes of wines and brandies, the arch now stands in the parking lot opposite Jurys Galway Inn. It's easily (and often) mistaken for a pile of weathered stones, yet it's another reminder of Galway's—and Ireland's—past links with Spain.
