Fodor's Review:

Aillwee Cave is the only such chamber in the region accessible to those who aren't spelunkers. This vast 2-million-year-old cave is illuminated for about 3,300 feet and contains an underground river and waterfall. Above ground, there are a big crafts shop, and cheese-making demonstrations.

  • Cost: Cave EUR 10; joint ticket for cave and birds, EUR 17; birds alone EUR 8
  • Open: Sept.-June, daily 10-6, last tour at 5:30; July and Aug., daily 10-7, last tour at 6:30; phone in advance in Dec.
