Pretty in pink-and-white stone trim, offset by a black wrought-iron veranda, and boasting a perch overlooking the inner harbor, Perryville House is in an adorable nook of town where homes often flower with hanging baskets and window boxes. The main salon hits all the right notes—emerald-green walls, gilt-frame portrait, white fireplace—and one gets the impression of being in a private home. Front bedrooms have sea views, but rooms at the rear are quieter—key in July and August, when the town gets busy. All guest rooms are imaginatively furnished with Victorian antiques and have large beds and such extras as robes and fresh flowers. The lodging has a wine license, so you can buy by the glass or the bottle. Pros: large, comfortable guest lounge; impeccable decor. Cons: limited car parking; no restaurant.
