Abbey Gate

  • Price range: $$$
  • Location: Tralee

Fodor's Review:

Built on the site of Tralee's old marketplace, in a quiet spot behind the main shopping street, Abbey Gate is an attractive, modern hotel. Rooms have country-style wood furniture and large, tiled bathrooms. The Old Market Place Pub, a rambling, imaginatively designed bar, seats 500 people and is built in the traditional style, with wooden floors and open fireplaces. There's bar food at lunch and music and dancing nightly from June to September and at least three nights a week at other times. Pros: good value; centrally located. Cons: Tralee town center largely rebuilt as concrete piazzas; bar can be noisy at night.
