Fodor's Finds Hotels
Book NowHayfield Manor Review
Ruddy with red brick and brightened by classy white-sash windows, Hayfield Manor's exterior hints at the comfy luxury within—beyond a splendid, carved-wood double staircase, you'll discover that the drawing room is a symphony of gilded silk, with white-marble fireplace, 19th-century chandelier, and chic armchairs, a surprisingly soigné modern homage to the country-house style. The library is wood-panelled and overlooks a walled patio and garden. Next to the UCC campus, the Manor is five minutes' drive from the city center but the less than scenic location in an undistinguished suburb is forgotten as soon as you cross the threshold of this deluxe establishment. Guest rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished in a version of the Louis XV style. The Victorian-style bar serves lunch, and then bar food until 7 pm, when Orchids restaurant opens for dinner; Perrott's Garden Bistro is a casual dining alternative.

Jamisonsd, from San Diego (but living in Copenhagen)
Had we stayed more than one night we would have definitely taken advantage of the restaurants and the spa, but we had a very short visit. The staff really stood out for their attentive and charming service. We had an exceptionally large room with a lot of nice extras like a DVD player, CD player and Nepresso machine. The breakfast was absolutely elegant. The whole place could use a decor update, but it was immaculately clean and worth the price just for the service alone.
