Fodor's Review:

The first-floor restaurant (within a large, modern hotel) is reached by a wide flight of stone steps, and overlooks a green space where the traditional ponies and traps take their breaks between rides around Muckross Park. This prime location, just around the corner from the commercial bustle of the town's high street, is one of the attractions of Mentons. Another is its spacious, uncluttered interior, armchairs and low tables lighted, at lunchtime, by natural light from large, wood-framed windows. Finally, there is the menu, which is inspired by the lemon groves of Menton in the south of France, and features fresh local produce, including Cromane mussels, which might be steamed and served with a lightly curried garlic, apple, and ginger broth. Chef Gary Fitzgerald has a nice selection of salads, and main courses may include herb-crusted hake with Provençal couscous and balsamic butter sauce, or char-grilled fillet of beef with roast tomato, bacon, and onion mash. Attentive service and a small but interesting wine list add to the experience.
