Should you be struck by a yen for sushi in deepest Kerry, you can satisfy it here. Owner-chef Bruce Mulcahy studied sushi making in Japan, and learned about fusion food in Thailand. He is recognized as one of Ireland's most talented chefs, and his presence in Kenmare has helped to establish it as one of Ireland's leading foodie destinations. He offers an unusual menu that combines fresh local ingredients traditionally prepared, with exotic specialties for the more adventurous palate. Try a parcel of braised Kerry lamb shank with parsnip puree, or choose from the house specialties, the sushi and sashimi. For dessert, try the lemon tart with amaretto cream. The six-course tasting menu is a real treat. The light-filled room, on the main street, previously a pub, has stylish contemporary place settings, with black or cream leather seats at small wooden tables, and a selection of homemade breads on a bamboo tray. All produce is certified organic, and there is a vegetarian dish of the day.
