The Liberty Grill is primarily a burger joint, but it's a burger joint with a difference: all the food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Its classic burger really tastes of beef, while the more adventurous can sample the lamb burger, crab burger, or tuna burger. There's also a good range of classic salads (Caesar, Nicoise, Waldorf), available as main courses or starters, a fresh fish of the day, and a few oven-baked options, including Galveston Chicken—marinated chicken breast with tomato and avocado salsa, served with mashed potatoes. The desserts are American, too, including key lime pie and brownies. Black leather banquettes, plain white walls, and a wood-plank floor provide an unassuming background for this busy eatery, popular with kids as well as adults, located just a block away from the city's courthouse.
