Stephen Pearce Pottery

Fodor's Review:

One of Ireland's best-known ceramic artists, Stephen Pearce runs Stephen Pearce Pottery, established by his parents. In addition to maintaining the original pottery, where two styles of earthenware pottery are thrown traditionally by hand, he has opened a massive gallery and showroom (with scrumptious home baking in the café) in the center of the village. Seconds and end-of-lines are popular items. About a dozen artists have studios in the basement, where their work is also for sale. They include a stone sculptor from Zimbabwe, an Israeli jeweler, a botanical artist, a patchwork maker, and several up-and-coming Irish artists. A tour of the pottery can be booked in advance.
