For accommodations, the Southwest has some of the great country houses, including Ballyvolane House near the Blackwater River in County Cork, Adare Manor in County Limerick, the Park Hotel Kenmare, and the Sheen Falls Lodge, also in Kenmare.

At the other end of the spectrum is the uniquely Irish experience of a farmhouse bed-and-breakfast, such as Ballymakeigh House, near Youghal, where you can watch the cows coming home as you breakfast.
