Letterkenny

Letterkenny, like Donegal to the south, is at the gateway to the far Northwest; you're likely to come through here if you're driving west out of Northern Ireland. Letterkenny's claim to fame has been that it has the longest main street in the whole country but there is more to it than that.

In a tourist board survey in 2013, Letterkenny was nominated as one of the top 10 towns

in Ireland for making a difference to tourism and has been striving hard to maintain that goal. The Tourism Town Awards helped build confidence, igniting a fresh enthusiasm and encouraging new businesses. The result is a bustling modest-size Irish town with family-run shops and a good place to get a warm sense of local identity.
