Bogwood Sculptures

Bogwood Sculptures Review

A lovely spot near Longford Town is Newtowncashel, on the banks of Lough Ree, where you can visit Bogwood Sculptures, a fascinating workshop run by sculptors Michael and Kevin Casey. The center displays sculptures and keepsakes made from bogwood, which is hewn from the 5,000-year-old trees submerged and ultimately preserved by the area's ancient peatlands. To get there from Longford drive 14 km (9 miles) on the N63 to Lanesborough, then take the R392 for 2 km (1 mile) and follow signs for Turreen-Newtowncashel.
