The Thatch Bar

The Thatch Bar Review

It's worth venturing 2 km (1 mile) south of Birr, just off the N62 Roscrea road, into this thatched country pub and restaurant, which offers a warm welcome and imaginative food. Inexpensive meals are available at lunchtime (Fri.-Sun. only) and early evening (4 to 7:30); later at night, the restaurant offers a choice of a five-course dinner menu or an à la carte menu. Pigeon and rabbit terrines and sirloin steaks with mushrooms in garlic sauce vie for diners' attention with more exotic dishes such as kangaroo and locally farmed ostrich.
