The southwest has two international airports: Cork (ORK) on the southwest coast, and Shannon (SNN) in the west. Cork Airport, 5 km (3 mi) south of Cork City on the Kinsale road, has direct flights daily to Dublin, London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead), Manchester, East Midlands, Paris, and Brussels, and direct flights to many other European cities.
Shannon Airport, 26 km (16 mi) west of Limerick City, is the point of arrival for many transatlantic flights, including direct flights from Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto (summer only), and New York City (from both JFK and Newark); it also has regular flights from the United Kingdom and many European cities. Kerry County Airport (KIR) at Farranfore, 16 km (10 mi) from Killarney, has daily flights from London (Stansted), Liverpool, and Frankfurt (Hahn) operated by Ryanair, and a regular service to Dublin and Manchester operated by Aer Arran.

Bus service runs between Cork Airport and the Cork City Bus Terminal every 30 minutes, on the hour and the half hour. The ride takes about 10 minutes and costs about EUR 3. Bus Éireann runs a regular bus service from Shannon Airport to Limerick City between 8 AM and midnight. The ride takes about 40 minutes and costs EUR 5.
All buses running from Cork to Galway are now routed via Shannon Airport, giving direct connections to those cities. For buses to Dublin, Waterford, Tralee, and Killarney, change at Limerick.
You can find taxis outside the main terminal building at Shannon and Cork airports. The ride from Shannon Airport to Limerick City costs about EUR 30; from Cork Airport to Cork City costs about EUR 10.
