Fodor's Review:
Just off Listowel's main square, this cheerful, welcoming bar, which dates from 1859, serves the best local foods. Chef Armel Whyte and his partner, Helen Mullane, are known for their lively combinations of traditional and contemporary Irish cooking ($-$$$). The spacious bedrooms are furnished with Baroque-style mirrors, designer lamp shades, cherubs, and oil paintings, and have four-poster beds and large, Connemara marble bathrooms. If you like Irish whiskey, Armel will be pleased to introduce you to his collection; be warned, one vintage malt costs EUR 60 a shot.
