On the shores of Lower Lough Erne, this stately 19th-century manor harks back to a more tranquil age. Romantic canopied four-poster beds and traditional floral patterns await guests in the hotel's bedrooms, but be sure to ask for a room at the back so you can savor stunning views of the lakelands. Heavy linen napkins and silver cutlery add the finishing touches to the very good, if slightly formal, manor restaurant. Why not take advantage of the excellent golf and fishing facilities and ask the friendly staff to book you a seat on the hotel's boat, the grandly named Lady of the Lake, for a cruise of Lough Erne? The idyllic location contributes to the hotel's laid-back relaxing air: sip a cocktail (or two) in the Belleek bar before dinner and you won't fail to unwind. Pros: superb location beside the lakes; an old building where the visitor drifts back in time; great sense of occasion in the graceful dining room. Cons: hasn't moved with the times, particularly the older bedrooms, which need a lick of paint to lift them to the level of plainness; staff not overly friendly.
