Armagh Planetarium

Fodor's Review:

The centerpiece of Armagh Planetariumis the Digital Theater with each star show offering a fascinating tour of the night sky or an adventure into space projected in 3D color onto the theater's dome. Your journey into space in the Earth to Heavens exhibition includes the International Space Station and travel to the Red Planet, or you can immerse yourself in stereoscopic animations of solar system exploration. Appropriately enough, in this ecclesiastical city, the Armagh Celestial Cathedral is a gallery of illuminated deep-space images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and framed in dramatic Gothic arches. Take a break from all the dizziness by stopping off in the Voyager café or browse in the Astrosales shop through astronomical equipment that will intrigue stargazers of all ages. The outdoor 30-acre AstroPark has a model solar system.

  • Cost: £6 includes Digital Theater and AstroPark
  • Open: Tues.-Sat. 10-5
