Dukes at Queens Review

This handsome hotel brings a hint of trendiness to Botanic Avenue, an area that's about as bohemian as Belfast gets; although retaining its distinguished redbrick Victorian facade, the inside has been revamped in a cool contemporary style. Tastefully appointed guest rooms come in varying sizes and are chicly modern, making this a fave both for weekenders and the smart business set. Villeroy & Boch bathrooms, with their drench showers, bring bliss while swank and comfy Rolf Benz swivel armchairs in burgundy and red are added bonuses. The snazzy Claudine's Cocktail bar serves fine wines and tapas in addition to cocktails. The hotel's location is perfect: Queen's University and Botanic Gardens are a five-minute stroll away, and if you want to eat out you can wander the leafy streets and choose among restaurants serving Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Italian, and Irish cuisine.
