You don't get much more downtown or contemporary than this fashionable boutique hotel right behind City Hall. The Neoclassical facade of this former post office hides a serene interior that houses a fashionable bar and a Grill Room, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bedrooms are minimalist-Asian in style—with king-size beds in all rooms topped with white duvets, soft armchairs to sink into, and fresh flowers brought daily. Lovers will opt for the "Romance Package" that offers a rose-petal turndown, chilled champagne, and chocolate truffles—all for £195 in a superior guest room. Pros: luxurious surroundings with attention to detail in the attractive rooms; super-king beds make it a memorable place to stay; convivial feel to the Grill Room. Cons: the noisy bar can be sweaty; sit outside but only if you don't mind the fumes from taxis, cars, and buses.
