Near poet Patrick Kavanagh's favorite spot where the Grand Canal "here by a lock Niagariously roars," a genuinely warm welcome awaits you at this adorably casual yet chic little restaurant. Dublin's favorite young, nouvelle Irish chef Troy McGuire has taken over the kitchen and the interior has had a major revamp, with a smart Long Island beach-house look of white wood-panel walls and dark brown parquet floors. The two fireplaces add to the sense of winter evening coziness. Inventive signature dishes include a wonderfully rich black pudding and an apple tarte tatin, and mallard duck with chicory and a blood-orange puree. The two small rooms above the dining room have feasting menus (think slow-roasted shoulder of lamb) for large parties.

This restaurant has now been taken over by the previous chef at L'Gueleton and has been given a modern makeover. We were there recently for a family gathering and requested the private dining room which provided us with the right amount of privacy and comfort. The service was professional and warm throughout. My 3 year old girl was provided with a really nice pork chop with whatever vegetables we wanted. The food was very good with hearty portions. The organic vegetable side dish was amazing, so fresh it tasted like they were just picked that morning.
