Dawson Hotel and Spa

35 Dawson St., Dublin, Co. Dublin, Dublin 2, Ireland, Dublin, Ireland

Why We Like It

A boutique-y feel, good prices and a central location, plus a fun bar downstairs, make this property a reasonable choice for those who want to be right in the middle of things. Be warned though, noise can be a real issue.

Fodor's Expert Review

Overlooking the Mansion House and 50 yards from Trinity College, this intimate town house is a classy - but noisy - boutique hotel right in the center of town. The stylish glass atrium entrance is a nice touch, and the hotel itself has other unexpected extras, including a small spa. The attached bar and club, Sam's, is good fun but be warned: take your earplugs (or use the ones provided by the hotel), because the music continues until very late and it can be heard in lots of the rooms.

Room

Rooms have a luxurious feel, either in simple creams or bold reds, with an Asian theme. Sadly the balconies on some of the rooms are not accessible for guests.

You Should Know There are lots of stairs in the hotel so it's not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Bathroom

Bathrooms vary between having showers or a shower over a bath, but are generally clean - although some guests have reported issues with mold - with beige tiles.

Lobby

The lobby is small, effectively an old-fashioned reception desk tucked away in a little room upstairs. Staff cheerily help guests with luggage.

Spa

Guests get discounts at the relaxing little spa, which offers treatments and packages, including a seaweed Morrocan bath.

Dining

Breakfast is quite a basic continental affair.

Drinking

Sam's Bar is a lovely joint - all art deco styling, fairy lights and a garden terrace. It's lively as well, which is either a boon or a bummer for you depending on how much you value your beauty sleep.
