Dublin Environs Sights
Keep in mind that it's easy to lose an hour or so making detours, chatting with locals, and otherwise enjoying the unexpected. A car is essential for visiting most sights, and don't plan on visiting both the north and south of Dublin during the same day. There are some points of interest accessible by public transport: bus tours from Dublin cover County Wicklow as far as Glendalough in the southwest and the Boyne Valley to the north; suburban bus services reach into the foothills of the Dublin Mountains; and Bus Éireann services take in the outlying towns. Some popular sights have direct connections to Dublin, including Enniskerry and Powerscourt Estate, which can be reached by taking the No. 44 bus from the Dublin quays area.
