Ardee

In this market town, formerly at the northern edge of the Pale (originally the Pale referred to the area of eastern Ireland ruled directly by the Normans), stand two 13th-century castles: Ardee Castle and Hatch's Castle. The town of Ardee (Baile Átha Fhirdia or Ferdia's Ford), interestingly, was named after the ford where the mythical folk hero Cuchulainn fought his foster brother Ferdia. There's a statue depicting this battle at the start of the riverside walk.
