Fodor's Review

Behind a plate glass window near the GPO, one of Cork's favorite restaurants has added a street side eatery serving informal food from 10 am (no reservations taken). It leads to the heart of the original restaurant (which can also be accessed from Phoenix Street at the rear), a curved Art Deco–style bar, that's carefully lighted to soothe away the world outside. It has recently been expanded, with a new entrance serving a tapas menu of light bites from 5pm. Food is always

sourced from local artisan producers, and chef Jacques's cooking allows the flavor to shine through, whether in a starter of smoked chicken, fennel, and orange salad, or a main course of roast breast of duck with potato stuffing, red cabbage, and apricot sauce. For dessert try the fruited bread-and-butter pudding, or indulge in a chocolate-and-hazelnut torte. The two-course dinner menu at €24 is a good value.
