101 Hotel Review
Don't let the 1930s office block-style façade fool you: 101 Hotel is one of Reykjavik's most stylish accommodations. The five-story, 38-room hotel has been designed by owner Ingibjorg Palmadottir; contemporary works from renowned local artists adorn the walls (the hotel also hosts exhibitions), and the open-plan rooms are generously proportioned and immaculately appointed with big, comfortable beds, American oak floors and—in some—freestanding baths. The restaurant-bar serves great European and Asian food and killer cocktails beneath a dramatic glass ceiling. The cozy lounge and library area boasts leather sofas and an open fire. Massages can be arranged in your room, and in the basement you'll find a small plunge pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna.

Hot Scene in Cool City
Reykjavik's hipster credentials have long been established thanks to its burgeoning music and creative scene. 101 Hotel—named after the postcode of the city's diminutive but dynamic downtown area—has raised the bar with its ultra-stylish interior that's blatantly minimalist yet lacks the sterility that term implies. Designed by owner Ingibjorg Palmadottir, the hotel impresses throughout, from the outrĂ© sculptures in the lobby to the open-plan rooms that feature large beds draped in Italian linens, opaque glass shower cubicles, and tasteful oak floors. The glamorous bar-restaurant, popular with residents and the city's cognoscenti alike, features an attractive fireplace, delicious cocktails, and excellent Asian and European food. The small plunge pool and Jacuzzi make this a handsome all-rounder.
