On an isolated point in the peninsula, this hotel affords stunning views of the sea, lava fields, mountains, and glacier. Antique furnishings and art objects are part of the opulent furnishings. Popular with both tourists and Icelanders looking for a quiet weekend away, this hotel also has one of the best restaurants ($$$) in the area, with some tables facing the stunning Snæfellsjökull. Not surprisingly, all rooms are no-smoking, but you may smoke in common areas.
