Þingeyrarkirja (Þingeyri's Church) Review

About 19 km (12 mi) south, across the Vatnsdalsá River and before you reach Blönduós, is the turnoff heading 6 km (4 mi) north to Þingeyrarkirja. The humble stony exterior belies an exquisite blue-dome interior, replete with carvings and beautiful religious ornamentation. To get in, contact the sexton at the farm Steinnes; look for the sign that reads reads Kirkjuvörður on the right-hand side of the approach road—it's about 3 km (2 mi) after you turn north.
