Blue Lagoon

Hot Springs / Spas, Grindavik

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

This world-renowned therapeutic wonder is now in a sheltered site where man-made structures blend with geologic formations. A reception area includes food concessions and boutiques where you can buy health products made from the lagoon's mineral-rich ingredients. Bathing suits are available to rent, and futuristic bracelets keep track of your locker code, any other purchases, and the length of your visit (all of which no doubt make useful marketing statistics). Buses run from the BSÍ bus terminal in Reykjavík to the Blue Lagoon twice daily and three times a day in July and August, or you can get to to the airport on your own by taking a special FlyBus.

Blue Lagoon is the hottest hot spring

Posted by Samantha from Massachusetts on 1/24/06

I went to Iceland in June of 05 and had the most amazing time at the Blue Lagoon. It was definitely the highlight of the trip. It's a huge place with many alcoves and separated pools for a more private feel even though there are usually lots of people there. The food in the restaurant was really great as well. The silica in the water really dried my skin out though (perhaps I stayed in too long!)
