Fodor's Expert Review Kisbuda Gyöngye

Considered by many the finest restaurant in Óbuda, this intimate place is filled with antique furniture and decorated with an eclectic but elegant patchwork of carved wooden cupboard doors and panels. The mood is set by the veteran pianist, who can serenade guests in a dozen languages, but who is at his best with Hungarian ballads. Meat and game dishes stand out here. Try the tarragon ragout of game, or sample the goose wedding feast, a richly flavorful dish that includes a crispy goose leg with braised red cabbage, grilled goose liver, and lightly fried goose cracklings. The excellent Serbian fish dishes are also worth a taste.
