Fodor's Review

This sunken church, part of which is (as the name would suggest) below ground level, is an example of 14th-century Macedonian ecclesiastical architecture, with a decorative mix of brick and stonework and a dome thrusting upward. Oringinally dedicated to the Virgin Mother, it was later dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior.
