Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia Sights

Litochoro Review

Litochoro is the lively town (population 7,000, plus a nearby army base) nestled at the foot of the mountain and is the modern address for Olympus these days. Souvenir shops, restaurants, local-specialty bakeries (stock up before a hike), and hotels vie for customers. Litochoro is 1½ hours by KTEL bus from Thessaloniki (almost every half hour from Thessaloniki and hourly from nearby Katerini). The isolated Litochoro train station is hard to access, about 5 km (3 mi) from the town near the seaside. It's better to take the train to Katerini and then a bus from there.
