The less-developed area on the south coast of Skiathos is the Kalamaki peninsula, where the British built their first villas. Some are available for rent in summer, many above tiny, unfrequented coves. Access here is by boat only, so you can usually find your own private beach. Motor launches run at regular intervals to the most popular beaches from Skiathos town, and you can always hire a boat for a private journey.
