Car

Lesvos, Chios, and Samos are large and public transport is limited, so a car is strongly recommended. Expect to spend about €40 to €100 per day for a compact car with insurance and unlimited mileage. An international driving permit (available at your local AAA office) is required to rent a car in Greece, although many agencies allow you to rent with your national license; however, if you are stopped by the police or get into an accident and cannot produce an international or EU license, you might have problems.
